The Southside Emergency Department offers a wide range of services, including inpatient care for things like childbirth, critical care, and surgeries. We offer lab tests, blood work, and diagnostic imaging like X-rays, CT scans, and ultrasounds. We also have spaces for people facing mental health crises. If needed, patients can be transferred to Lynchburg General Hospital for more advanced care and technology.
At Southside Community Hospital, we offer the following services 24/7:
- Accredited Chest Pain Center: Designed to treat and stabilize heart attack patients immediately, when the chances of recovering are the greatest.
- Primary Stroke Center with Thrombectomy: We can quickly treat strokes and even remove blood clots from the brain.
- Mental Health Care: We have special spaces to help people facing mental health emergencies, but care is limited at this location.
- Forensic Nurses: These nurses help gather evidence and support people who have been victims of crimes like trauma, sexual assault, abuse, or human trafficking. They also provide care and follow-up support.
