- Where are the Centra Urgent Care facilities located?
Centra has three urgent care facilities: Centra Medical Group Urgent Care Forest, Centra Southside Medical Center, and Centra Danville Medical Center. Additionally, for urgent mental health care needs, Centra Piedmont Psychiatric Adult Urgent Care is located at Virginia Baptist Hospital.
- What are the Centra Urgent Care hours?
Our Centra urgent care offices are open daily from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., except for Centra Southside Medical Center, which is closed on Sundays.
Our urgent cares are closed on Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.
- Can I walk in, or do I need an appointment?
Our Centra urgent care facilities offer a limited number of spots that can be reserved by walking in or calling ahead. These are not appointments but give patients an estimated time to be seen. This also allows patients to wait at home or run other errands before being seen. The remainder of the slots are reserved for walk-in appointments. Patients can walk in, be added to the list, and wait their turn to be seen. This combination of reserved spots and walk-in appointments allows our urgent care facilities to predict patient flow and see more patients throughout the day.
- What type of provider will I see?
Centra’s Urgent Care facilities employ a mix of physicians and advanced providers (Physician assistants, nurse practitioners, etc.…) across all our sites.
- What is the typical wait time?
The typical wait time can fluctuate depending on the time of year and seasonal illnesses. Our team works diligently to see each patient as quickly as possible.
- Do you take Medicare?
Yes, we accept all insurances (Medicare, Medicaid, and Commercial). Please see our Medicare & Insurance list for more information.
- What if I don’t have insurance, can I still be seen?
Yes, we will still see you without insurance. However, the patient will need to pay a fee of $80, and then they will be sent a bill for the final total.
- Should I expect a co-pay?
The co-pay will be dependent on what your insurance requires.
- What if urgent care refers me to the ER, will they call ahead and let them know?
Centra’s urgent care facilities and emergency departments are on the same electronic medical record. This means that the emergency department staff has access to all labs, x-rays, and provider documentation done at the urgent care. If the decision is made that EMS transport is needed, your provider will report to the EMS personnel. If you go by private vehicle, the provider will often call and give a brief report to the emergency department's charge nurse or triage nurse.
- Do Centra urgent care facilities offer telemedicine visits?
Yes, you can call and request a telemedicine appointment. Depending on the patient’s condition or symptoms, lab tests may be required when the patient would need to come in.
- Do Centra urgent care facilities offer X-ray and lab services?
Yes, our urgent care facilities offer X-rays and basic lab services across all sites.
